On February 27, 2025, the Board of Supervisors of the Plantation Acres Improvement District (PAID) voted 4-1 to voluntarily dissolve the District.

On September 17, 2025, the City of Plantation City Council will have a hearing and vote on a Resolution related to the dissolution of PAID. The meeting will be at City Hall at 6 pm and we encourage our Plantation Acres residents to attend.

The Resolution confirms the City of Plantation's acceptance and willingness to service the area of Plantation Acres, as a dependent special district, for flood control and water management. This will be accomplished in accordance with the wishes of the district residents as expressed in a referendum, which should take place during a special election in 2026.

If the Resolution is passed, it will move the process forward to the Broward Legislative Delegation, and ultimately to the Florida Legislature to be considered for the 2026 Florida Legislative Session.

The Florida Legislature will need to pass a Special Act dissolving PAID as an Independent Special District and create a Dependent Special District of the City of Plantation, to provide the services currently being offered by PAID.

The Special Act must then be voted on by a referendum and approved by the resident electors of Plantation Acres on or before October 1, 2026, in order to take effect. The referendum will take place during a Special Election.
